Hi there and welcome to the pastor's page here at the Woodland Hills Community Church.  My name is Craig Peterson, and I've had the privilege of serving as pastor at Woodland Hills Community Church since September 13, 2009.

I came into ministry after serving nearly ten years in human services fields.  I spent several years working as an educator in the juvenile corrections field.  I also served as a community educator/outreach worker in the public health field in Washington State.  Those opportunities gave me lots of experience working with people from all sorts of backgrounds.

During my first year at Woodland Hills Community Church, these life experiences have served me well - for Woodland Hills Community Church is a place that brings people together from a wide range of backgrounds.

In addition to our own congregation, we are blessed to be able to share our facilities with another church (Spirit Food Christian Center), and over twenty other community groups ranging from a boy scouts troop to a private middle school to our own Nursery School!  In other words, Woodland Hills Community Church is a place that is passionate about creating safe space for everyone!

The 2010-11 program year will be a special year for us.  This January 15 we will be celebrating the 50^th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s appearance in our pulpit.  We'll culminate the program year in May with a special performance of the musical "Ragtime" by our Youth Musical Theatre program.  In between we'll be making available things ranging from a weekly lectionary conversation group to a grief support group to a retired men's group to a women's group titled "The Next 50 Years of Our Lives."  We are working hard to meet a wide variety of needs in our community.
